Enjoyed listening to all my friends at St. J.O.A, and was happy to hear a reinforcement of the thought that a candidate should be evaluated by all of his views and actions. I think that the Republican party has enjoyed for many years the support of a large voting block that didn't care what the candidate stood for because the party "said" that they are anti-abortion. I think that the Republican party may be very dismayed to learn that many of these voters are beginning to think for themselves and look at everything else that the party stands for. Caring for the poor is a major focus of Jesus' teachings, but the Evangelical Republicans are too comfortable listening to their preachers say that "God wants you to be rich". Their conscience is clear because they are "against" abortion. I also am against abortion, as I believe most of the Democratic leaders are, but as in the medical arena, I believe an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. I also believe that preventing unwanted pregnancies through stronger Christian family values and spending time with our children would be a far better method of decreasing the number of abortions. Any question as to how I am voting?!!
